Greater Noida: A shocking incident of physical assault involving a local BJP leader has triggered widespread outrage after a video showing him brutally thrashing a woman and her child went viral on social media. The accused, Ateeq Pathan, Mandal Minister of the BJP in Kasna, was seen hitting the woman with slippers and sticks in full public view in Bilaspur town under Dankaur police station limits.
Shocking Assault Caught On Camera
The incident reportedly took place on Monday morning following a dispute between two women over an electricity wire. As the argument escalated, Ateeq Pathan allegedly intervened and, along with a few family members, launched a physical attack on the woman and her family. Bystanders captured the shocking scenes on video, showing the woman being assaulted while she tried to shield her son from the blows. The video has since sparked nationwide condemnation.
UP Congress Slams State Govt
Reacting swiftly to the incident, the Uttar Pradesh Congress shared the video on its official social media account, slamming the BJP-led state government. “This shameless man beating a woman and her child with slippers and sticks is a BJP leader. If the Chief Minister cannot protect women from his own party members, how helpless must he be before real criminals? Shameful,” the Congress post read.
Ateeq Pathan Arrested Over Viral Assault Video
In response to mounting public outrage and media attention, Noida Police issued a formal statement confirming the arrest of Ateeq Pathan. “In reference to the incident dated 30.06.2025 in Bilaspur town under Dankaur police station limits, a dispute arose between two women over cutting an electric wire. During the altercation, a person named Ateeq intervened and physically assaulted Shafiur Rahman. The Dankaur Police immediately arrested the individual involved and carried out all necessary legal procedures,” read the official police statement.
