Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and discussed issues related to the Maratha reservation, pending GST compensation and the proposed Metro car shed in Kanjurmarg. Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar and senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan accompanied Thackeray. This is Thackeray's second visit to the national capital after taking over as the chief minister of the state in November 2019.

The Agra administration today ordered an enquiry after a video clip surfaced in which the owner of a private hospital here is purportedly heard saying that he conducted a "mock drill" in which oxygen supply was cut off for Covid patients for five minutes. In the video which went viral on social media on Monday, the owner of Shri Paras Hospital is also heard saying that bodies of some patients started turning blue after the oxygen supply was cut off. District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh told reporters that action will be taken against the owner under the Pandemic Act. He said the hospital will be sealed and patients will be shifted to other hospitals.

The Bombay High Court today cancelled the caste certificate issued to Amravati Lok Sabha member Navneet Kaur Rana, saying it was obtained fraudulently using fabricated documents, and directed her to surrender it within six weeks. A division bench of Justices R D Dhanuka and V G Bisht also imposed a cost of Rs 2 lakh, which she needs to pay to the Maharashtra Legal Services Authority within a period of two weeks. The HC noted that the claim of belonging to 'Mochi' caste made by Rana for obtaining the Scheduled Caste certificate itself was fraudulent and made with an intention to obtain various benefits available to a candidate from such category, despite knowing she does not belong to that caste.

Numerous websites went offline today after an apparent widespread outage at the cloud service company Fastly. Dozens of high-traffic websites including the New York Times, CNN, Twitch, Reddit, and the U.K. government's home page, could not be reached. San Francisco-based Fastly acknowledged a problem. It said in repeated updates on its website that it was "continuing to investigate the issue." About an hour later, the company said: "The issue has been identified and a fix has been applied. Customers may experience increased origin load as global services return."

Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty ended marginally lower today following losses in index majors HDFC twins, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank amid a weak trend in Asian markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex slipped 52.94 points or 0.10 per cent to 52,275.57. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty declined 11.55 points or 0.07 per cent to 15,740.10. SBI was the top loser in the Sensex pack, slipping 1.21 per cent, followed by HDFC, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, PowerGrid, ICICI Bank and UltraTech Cement. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech, Infosys, Titan, Dr Reddy's and ITC were among the gainers, climbing up to 2.53 per cent.
