In a sharp response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, India launched a precision military offensive, 'Operation Sindoor', targeting key terror hideouts across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The Press Information Bureau (PIB), on Wednesday, May 7, simultaneously refuted viral social media claims that Pakistan destroyed an Indian Brigade Headquarters in retaliation, calling them “false” and cautioning the public against spreading unverified information.

PIB Fact-Check Labels Retaliation Claims ‘Fake’
Amid circulating rumours suggesting a Pakistani counterstrike on Indian military infrastructure, the PIB Fact Check unit refuted the claims. "Social media posts falsely claimed that Pakistan destroyed Indian Brigade Headquarters. This claim is #FAKE," the PIB wrote on X (formerly Twitter), urging users to rely only on verified government sources.
The clarification comes after several viral posts alleged that heavy damage was inflicted on Indian forces. However, no official Pakistani statement has corroborated such claims, and Indian defence authorities have also dismissed them outright.
India Strikes Inside Pakistani Territory
According to a report by ANI, official sources revealed that the Indian Armed Forces executed 'Operation Sindoor' in the early hours of Wednesday, striking nine terror-linked sites — four in undisputed Pakistani territory, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot, and five in PoJK. The coordinated operation involved the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force and marked India’s deepest strike across the border since the 1971 war.
A statement from the Ministry of Defence read, “Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.”
The operation aimed to avenge the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and neutralise top operatives of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, held responsible for orchestrating cross-border terrorism.
A press briefing by the Ministry of Defence is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00 AM, where further operational details will be revealed.
