The Congress party on Tuesday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his speech in the Lok Sabha during the debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack.

In his nearly two-hour-long speech, PM Modi hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, India’s military response, while criticising the Opposition for its lack of support following the Pahalgam attack and the operation.

After PM Modi concluded his speech, Congress leader Pawan Khera took to X (formerly Twitter) to lash out at him. Without naming the Prime Minister, Khera wrote, "Chanta mara Trump ne, lekin Nehru se khafa hain. Kash waqt rahte samajh jaate ki Doland dost nahi, bewafa hai." (Slap was given by Trump, but he’s angry with Nehru. If only they had realised in time that Donald is not a friend, but unfaithful.)

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi had dared the PM to deny US President Donald Trump’s repeated claim that he mediated between India and Pakistan to enforce a ceasefire.

PM Modi, in his speech, dismissed the claim, stating that no world leader had asked India to halt during Operation Sindoor.

After the PM’s address, Rahul Gandhi criticised him for not naming the US President directly.

"He didn’t explicitly say Trump was lying, and throughout his speech, he didn’t mention China even once. The world knows China supported Pakistan, yet neither the Prime Minister nor our Defence Minister spoke about it," Gandhi told the media in New Delhi.

Notably, PM Modi also blamed former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for signing the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan.

"Pakistan has waged war and proxy war for decades, yet Congress governments neither reviewed the Indus Waters Treaty nor corrected Nehru ji’s major mistake. But now, India has rectified that error—a firm decision has been taken. That historic blunder by Nehru ji—the Indus Waters Treaty—has been suspended in the interest of the nation and our farmers," PM Modi said.
