Diverse Indian Women Delegation To Attend UNCSW Session In New York From March 10-21

The 69th session of the UN CSW will review and appraise the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly.

Mumbai: Seven women have been nominated by the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) to be part of the Indian delegation to the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York from March 10 to 21 at the UN headquarters in New York.

The 69th session of the UN CSW will review and appraise the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly.

The main focus will be assessing the current challenges in achieving gender equality and women's empowerment. Women representatives from across the globe will present their views and recommendations on achieving these goals.

The representatives from diverse professional and educational backgrounds will be sent in collaboration with the NGO, Bhartiya Stree Shakti (BSS). They will present the Indian perspective on gender equality, the status of women, and related issues. While Nayana Sahasrabuddhe represents public sector banking, Raginee Chandratre, and Seema Deshpande are from the social sector.

Advocate Pratima Lakra represents the legal fraternity and Dr Prachi Moghe is from archaeology. Seema Kamble is the mentor in the women’s wing, Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Bharathi Mallampati has been in the IT sector. RMP is an organisation in Special Consultative Status with the Economic & Social Council of the United Nations (UN ECOSOC) since 2006.
