Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel showed his interest in conserving the rich folk culture of the state. He instructed the senior government officers to start making enriched digital libraries.
“Prepare a digital library to preserve and showcase various aspects of the rich and glorious culture of Chhattisgarh. This would not only establish Chhattisgarh’s identity on an international platform but would also make the future generation aware of their splendid culture”, said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
The CM issued the directives while reviewing the works of the culture department at his official residence in Raipur, on Tuesday a government statement said.
Important information about folk music, folk dance, folk literature along with artists and artforms of Chhattisgarh should be compiled in the digital library with the help of experts on the subjects, the CM said.
He marked out the fact that many musical instruments have been prevalent in the folk culture of Chhattisgarh, but still several people are unaware of this glorious heritage till date.
The information about such instruments should be stored digitally by recording their name, method of playing etc. Information regarding folk dances, folk artists of different regions of Chhattisgarh should also be collected.
He also instructed the officers that young artists should be encouraged to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the state through various schemes of the Culture Department, including the State Government's Folk Artists Promotion Scheme.
Young and upcoming artists and art troupes should be given the opportunity to perform at government cultural programs, along with the established artists. the CM instructed.
