Rajgarh (MP): Two diamonds worth about Rs 30 lakh allegedly stolen by three women from Delhi were recovered from a village here, police said today.

The two diamonds were stolen recently by three women, identified as Rachna, Shabana and Mewa, from near a jewellery showroom at South Extension area in the national capital, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Jairaj Kuber said.

When a woman got down from her car near the showroom, the trio somehow managed to steal the precious stones from her purse and escaped in an auto-rickshaw, he said.

A team of Delhi police caught the three women on the basis of CCTV footage.

On interrogation, the women told them that they had sent the stolen diamonds to their native Kadia Sansi village in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh.

Yesterday, a Delhi police team reached the village along with one of the accused, Mewa, and summoned sarpanch Kanhaiya Lal on the issue at Pachore police station. Due to this, a rumour got spread that police had arrested the village head following which some women attacked the policemen.

However, later, the local police intervened and recovered the stolen diamonds, the SDOP said, adding that the Delhi Police team went back after the recovery of the diamonds.
