Devastating Visuals: 10 Feared Dead, 2 NDRF Teams Rushed To Spot As Massive Cloudburst Hits Kishtwar’s Chashoti

Cloudburst Hits Kishtwar’s Chashoti | X

Chashoti: A massive cloudburst struck the Chashoti area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday, leaving at least 10 people feared dead. The cloudburst triggered flash floods, causing widespread damage in the region. Reportedly, around 200-300 people are feared to be trapped in the affected areas.

NDRF Teams Rushed To Affected Area

Two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been rushed to Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar.

Visuals show scenes of panic and people rushing the injured to nearby hospitals.

Reacting to the cloudburst Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep anguish. In a post on X, Office of LG said, “Anguished by cloudburst in Chositi Kishtwar. Condolences to bereaved families & prayers for quick recovery of injured. Directed Civil, Police, Army, NDRF & SDRF officials to strengthen the rescue & relief operations and ensure all possible assistance is provided to the affected.”

Machail Mata Yatra Suspended

The annual Machail Mata Yatra, which commenced on July 25 and was meant to conclude on September 5, has been suspended due to the massive cloudburst. The cloudburst took place along the pilgrimage route.

Uttrakhand Cloudburst

Earlier last week, two cloudbursts were reported in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, on Tuesday, 5 August 2025. The cloudbursts caused severe flash floods along the Khir Ganga River, devastating villages including Dharali and Tharali.

The confirmed death in the cloudburst has been reported six. Earlier on Tuesday, The district administration released a list of missing individuals.

A total of 68 people have been reported missing in the Dharali disaster, including 24 Nepali nationals and 44 Indian citizens. 1,308 people have been rescued since August 5. NGRI experts have launched a search operation to trace the missing persons.
