New Delhi: A Class 12 student was detained on Friday for allegedly sending bomb threat emails to several Delhi schools, as per reports quoting police. On Wednesday, several institutions including Delhi Public School in Vasant Vihar and RK Puram, Blue Bells and Tagore International received alarming emails claiming explosives were planted on their premises. The threats caused panic and prompted immediate investigations.
'Explosives Were Planted In Key Locations,' Said Threat Email Sender
The emails warned of 'massive and highly dangerous explosives' and criticised the schools’ lack of strict bag checks. The sender seemed to have detailed knowledge of exam schedules and student movements, stating that the explosives had been planted in key locations, as reported by ANI. The email described a scenario where the staff would be unaware of the impending danger, heightening concerns.
Recent Threats Issued To Delhi Schools
Police are investigating the incident, noting similarities to previous hoax bomb threats targeting Delhi schools. Last year, over a hundred schools in the city received similar emails, which ultimately proved false. For instance, on December 14, the Delhi Police Special Cell identified a student from a private school who had sent a bomb threat to a Paschim Vihar school. Around the same time, several schools across Delhi received similar hoaxes.
On December 13 alone, 30 schools were targeted with bomb threat emails. Despite the repeated nature of these threats, authorities are taking each case seriously to ensure safety and accountability. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the latest threats and to prevent further disruptions.
