New Delhi: Heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi on Tuesday, throwing normal life out of gear. Waterlogging was reported in several areas of the national capital territory (NCT), leading to disruption in the traffic movement.

Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for parts of Delhi. Areas, including ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Naraina, Patel Nagar, Vijay Chowk, Jangpura, RK Puram, Lajpath Nagar, Talkatora Road, Rafi Marg and Rohini received heavy showers.

The traffic movement was reportedly smooth at Minto Bridge despite heavy rainfall in the city. Earlier, the area used to be submerged in floodwater.

As per the region MeT Centre, the ongoing rain spell is likely to continue till August 3. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8 degrees Celsius, 0.5 notch below the season's average, as per the IMD.

Advisories By Airlines:

In the wake of heavy downpour, major airlines, including IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India, issued urgent travel advisories, warning of potential flight delays at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The weather disruption comes even as the IMD has forecast continued rainfall over the coming days.

IndiGo, in a post titled “A Rainy Day Reminder,” requested passengers to plan ahead. “With heavy rainfall expected over #Delhi, we're seeing a chance of delays and slower traffic to and from the airport. Please check your flight status and consider giving yourself a little cushion of time," the airline wrote.

SpiceJet also issued a warning on X, saying, “Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL) and Dharamshala (DHM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected.”

“Gusty wind and rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi this morning… Allow extra time for your journey,” Air India said in an X post.
