New Delhi: Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Monday, June 2, signalled a major political pivot, expressing his desire to return to Bihar politics ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

While he ruled out any immediate ambitions for the chief minister’s post, Paswan made it clear that his heart and political vision remain firmly rooted in Bihar.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Paswan said, “I have said this earlier too, I don’t see myself in national politics for too long. I entered politics for Bihar, and that’s where my work must continue.”

Fresh from winning his third term as Lok Sabha MP from Hajipur, Paswan admitted that being in Delhi has its limits. “I’ve realised after three terms in Parliament that the real change I want to bring can’t happen from here,” he added.

Paswan also revealed that internal party deliberations are underway regarding his potential candidacy in the state polls. “If contesting Vidhan Sabha elections improves our strike rate and strengthens the NDA’s performance, I will certainly contest,” he said, stressing that his final decision will be aligned with the party’s consensus.

CM Role Not on Radar, Says Paswan

Dispelling rumours about eyeing Bihar’s top post, Paswan further told the press, “There is no vacancy. Nitish Kumar will be chief minister after the elections. That’s clear.”

LJP(RV) MP Arun Bharti confirmed that the party had formally urged Paswan to take up a stronger leadership role in the state. “We believe Bihar needs his vision. A survey will guide our final decision,” he said.

Political strategist-turned-Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor welcomed the development, calling it “a positive step for Bihar politics.”

The Bihar Assembly elections are expected in October–November, with the NDA aiming to fend off the Mahagathbandhan challenge.
