Crackdown On Espionage Networks: Government Employee From Rajasthan's Jaisalmer Arrested On Charges Of Spying For Pakistan

A Rajasthan government employee was arrested in Jaisalmer for allegedly spying for Pakistan on Wednesday night. The arrested man has been identified as Shakur Khan. Khan, who works in the district employment office, was reportedly found to have phone numbers associated with Pakistan stored on his device.

Jaisalmer: Amid a nationwide crackdown on espionage networks after India's Operation Sindoor, a Rajasthan government employee was arrested in Jaisalmer for allegedly spying for Pakistan on Wednesday night. The arrested man has been identified as Shakur Khan Mangaliyar.

Mangaliyar was arrested by a joint team of CID and intelligence agencies from his office in Jaisalmer, reported The Times of India.

Mangaliyar, who works in the district employment office, was found to have phone numbers associated with Pakistan stored on his device, an official told PTI. "There were inputs about Shakur Khan that he could be involved in spying for Pakistan. He was on surveillance following inputs and was detained last night," the officer said.

Mangaliyar is a resident of Baroda village near the Pakistan border. He was reportedly under surveillance for several weeks.

As per the TOI report, Mangaliyar admitted to travelling to Pakistan seven times in the recent years. No sensitive information, regarding, photos of defence installations was found in Mangaliyar's phone. However, officials claimed that several filed had been deleted.

Central agencies will interrogate Mangaliyar in Jaipur.

Last week, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on May 21 arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from Delhi for allegedly spying for Pakistan.The arrested CRPF personnel was identified as Moti Ram Jat. He allegedly shared sensitive information with Pakistan's intelligence officers.

In May, authorities arrested over 12 people, including YouTuber jyoti Malhotra, over charges of spying for Pakistan.
