Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will put vaccination on hold in all 18 camps tomorrow, June 9, due to shortage of vaccines in Kolkata.

KMC deputy Mayor Atin Ghosh said that due to scarcity of vaccines, vaccination drive is put on hold for tomorrow i.e. Wednesday and if we get the stock, we will resume vaccination from Thursday.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called drivers, hawkers, shop-keepers as 'super spreaders' and initiated vaccination drive for them with priority.

“Due to scarcity of vaccinations we cannot vaccinate the super-spreaders and at the same time vaccinating them is very important. If the central Government sends vaccines by Wednesday, we will resume vaccination on Thursday,” said Atin, adding, vaccination for second dose of Covaxin will be available on Wednesday.

The TMC supremo had claimed that if these 'super-spreaders' are vaccinated, the spread of virus will be controlled in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, with 98 new deaths in the last 24 hours, West Bengal recorded 5,427 new cases.
