A couple were tied to a pole and beaten by villagers for continuing their extramarital affair in Adavidevulapally mandal of Telangana's Nalgonda district.

Visuals of the public punishment have surfaced on social media showing the couple tied to a pole while women from the village hit them with slippers. The incident took place in full public view as villagers gathered around the pole and watched the couple being beaten.

According to reports, Ramesh, a married man from Nayakuni Tanda, had been in an illicit relationship with a married woman from the local Molakacherla village for some time.

Despite repeated warnings from elders of both families that this was wrong, they continued the illicit relationship.

However, the locals caught them red-handed, tied them to a pole, and beat them.

The exact time of the incident is not yet known. It is also not clear whether a formal complaint was lodged over this.
