In light of CBSE's recent announcement, almost a dozen states including Odisha, Maharashtra and more recently Tamil Nadu have followed suit and cancelled their class 12 board exams.

While almost all state boards along with CBSE & ICSE have cancelled the class 10 exams, the Karnataka government has decided to conduct the SSLC or 10th standard examinations in the third week of July.

CBSE

In view of the uncertain conditions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the feedback obtained from the various stakeholders, the CBSE Class 12 board exams for 2021 were cancelled.

The decision was taken after a key meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Cabinet ministers and the concerned officials.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) constituted a 13-member committee to work out objective criteria for the assessment of class 12 students after their board exams were cancelled in view of the pandemic. The panel will submit its report within 10 days.

CISCE

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) informed that the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Board examinations of Class 12 have been cancelled.

NIOS

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has cancelled its class 12 examination in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced. The Class 10 exams were cancelled and the results will be on basis of an assessment scheme devised by the institute.

Odisha

Odisha CHSE Board Class 12 Examination have been cancelled, in the wake of the prevailing pandemic, ANI reported.

Himachal Pradesh

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced the cancellation of the Class 12 board examination for session 2020-2021.

Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said a decision on holding the class 12 exams in the state will be taken after the CBSE announces modalities for marking the students.

Addressing a press conference on his first visit to the national capital as chief minister, he also said that all willing residents of Assam will be vaccinated by the end of December as more COVID-19 vaccines will be arriving in the state from this month onwards.

Asked whether the class 12 exams conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council will be cancelled, Sarma said a decision in this regard will be taken after consultation with all stakeholders as it is a question of a students' future.

The Education Minister Ranoj Pegu recently said that a final decision regarding the Class 10, 12 exams will be taken soon after considering NEET , JEE 2021 and other relevant issues .

Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh has cancelled the Class 12 board exam. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a video statement posted on Twitter, "The class 12 board exams (organised by the MP Board of Secondary Education) for the year 2020-21 will not be held this year.

Maharashtra

The state board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 in Maharashtra have been cancelled this year in view of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic, minister Vijay Wadettiwar announced.

Speaking to reporters, relief and rehabilitation minister Wadettiwar said, "The state board exams of Classes 12 and 10 are cancelled.

Later in the day, school education minister Varsha Gaikwad said her department would soon announce decisions regarding the internal assessment system for students as well as policy for CET (Common Entrance Test for admissions) and other entrance examinations.

In a video message, Gaikwad said, The Maharashtra government has announced the cancellation of Class 12 exams today.

Gujarat

Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board have cancelled the Class 12 board examination. The information was shared by State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama.

"The state government decided to scrap the exams for class 12 of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board (GSHSB) after taking into consideration the Centre's decision to cancel the exams for class 12 students of the CBSE given the coronavirus pandemic," Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said.

Haryana

The Haryana government has also decided to cancel the Class 12 exams conducted by the state board, Education Minister Kanwar Pal said.

"We have also decided to cancel the Class 12 board exams in the state which were to be conducted by the Haryana Board of School Education," Pal told PTI over the phone.

West Bengal

Class 10 and 12 examinations were cancelled in the state.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Class 12 Intermediate Board Exams 2021 have been cancelled by the state government today, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma informed.

Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Council

The Yogi Adityanath government also cancelled the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Council Class 10 and 12 board examinations for session 2020-2021, keeping in view the "extraordinary situation arising due to the COVID pandemic"

Karnataka

The Karnataka government announced that the SSLC or 10th standard examinations will be held in July third week while cancelling the second year pre-university course (PUC) exams this year in view of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PUC second-year students will be promoted to the next level and the grading will be based on their performance in the first PUC exam.

Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand intermediate board examinations were also cancelled on Wednesday in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state. State Education Minister Arvind Pandey said the decision has been taken in the interest of students, teachers and guardians after consulting the chief minister.

Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government announced the cancellation of class 12 state board examinations and said a committee would be set up to decide on awarding marks to students.

Goa

Goa 12th Board Exam 2021 has been cancelled by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

Bihar

Bihar has already held the class 12 board exams and declared results as well.

Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh Board or CGBSE has already begun the Class 12 exams.

Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government on Wednesday night decided to cancel classes 10 and 12 examinations conducted by the state board this year in view of the coronavirus pandemic, according to an official statement.

The decision, taken in an online meeting of the State Council of Ministers, came a day after the central government announced cancelling the CBSE Class 12 board exams.

Telangana

The Class 12 examinations have been cancelled in the state. The board is yet to make a decision as to how the students will be evaluated.

The Union Territory of Puducherry

The class 12 exams were cancelled.

Jammu & Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Secondary Education (JKBOSE) has cancelled the pending board exams for Class 11 and Class 12.
