Raipur/Bilaspur: Despite stringent laws under the POCSO Act, cases of misconduct involving teachers continue to surface in Chhattisgarh. Two such incidents have recently been reported in Bilaspur district, leading to the immediate suspension of an assistant teacher and a school principal accused of inappropriate behavior towards students.

According to official reports, Assistant Teacher Ashok Kumar Kurre, posted at Khudiyadih in Takhatpur, and Mangala Passid School Principal Ramkishore Nirmalkar of Bilha were accused of inappropriate conduct by students.

Following an investigation by the Block Education Officer in Bilha, the allegations against Nirmalkar were found to be true. Consequently, the District Education Officer suspended him with immediate effect and assigned his headquarters to Rajendra Nagar Higher Secondary School, Bilha, during the suspension period. His actions were deemed a violation of educational ethics and the Civil Services Conduct Rules, 1965, prompting further departmental inquiry.

Similarly, allegations against Ashok Kumar Kurre regarding misconduct with Class 5 students at the Government Primary School in Khudadih were also investigated by the Block Education Officer of Takhatpur. The findings confirmed the accusations, leading to his immediate suspension. His headquarters during the suspension period has been designated as Government Higher Secondary School, Takhatpur.

Previously, another teacher in the district faced similar charges and was suspended, with an FIR lodged under the POCSO Act. However, after being acquitted in court, the teacher allegedly repeated the offense. Authorities believe that FIRs will likely be filed against the two recently suspended teachers as well.
