Raipur: The Enforcement Directorate made revelations about the searches carried out in the state on the prominent rice millers and industrialists on Monday through its X account in the context of alleged massive rice scam that occurred in Chhattisgarh.
In its statement ED mentioned that it conducted on 20/10/2023 and 21/10/2023 at the premises of ex-MD of MARKFED, Treasurer & office bearers of Chhattisgarh Rice Millers Association, District Marketing Officers, & few Rice Millers in Custom Rice Milling Special Incentive scam.
ED seizes cash and incriminating documents during raid
During the search operations various incriminating documents, digital devices and unaccounted cash of ₹1.06 Crore were found and seized, ED mentioned.
However, after the revelations, the political temperature in the poll bound state soared. This time while carrying out operations ED also raided the houses of some BJP leaders. Apart from BJP office bearers these leaders are also influential rice millers and were suspected to have alleged role in rice scam.
MarkFed's name not revealed by ED
In the ED raids, the national prosecuting cum investigating agency did not reveal the name of ex-Managing Director MarkFed. Meanwhile, the sources said, the ED teams also conducted raids on the residence of Manoj Soni, ex-MD MarkFed.
Senior BJP leader of Korba cum businessman Gopal Modi. Modi was the former president of the Katghora rice mill association.
ED also conducted raids on the premises of Amit Rice industry of Tilda Nevra, and Kathghora rice mill association president Prashant Agarwal, sources said.
