In the Amaleshwar police station area of Durg district, supporters of the saffron party and members of Hindu organizations created a disturbance over allegations of forced religious conversion.

The saffron party members surrounded a house where the alleged conversion was taking place and remained there for hours, even after police arrived.

The standoff ended when police detained 97 individuals suspected of involvement in the controversial conversion activities.

Authorities registered a case against three individuals and placed them in judicial custody. On the complaint of Meenakshi Sharma (46), a resident of Ayodhya Nagar, Police lodged a complaint against Dr. Vinay Sahu, Krishnakant Kurre, and Dhal Singh Sahu, all from Amaleshwar, for their alleged roles in forced conversion.

According to the complaint, Dr. Sahu organized a prayer meeting at his home on February 16, which included two individuals associated with Christianity and several attendees. During the meeting, speakers praised Jesus and downplayed the significance of Hindu deities, and tried to belittle their stature  in an effort to convert Hindu attendees. The complainant alleged that they pressured individuals like Ritu Verma and Deepali Rajput to convert to Christianity.

Meenakshi reported the incident to the police, which subsequently reached Hindu organizations, including Bajrang Dal. Members of these organizations arrived at the location, surrounded the house, and demanded action against those present for conducting conversions.

This led to a tense situation, prompting police intervention. After questioning 97 individuals, a case was filed against Dr. Vinay Sahu, who organized the meeting, and Krishnakant Kurre and Dhal Singh Sahu, who were accused of pressuring attendees to convert, the situation resolved.
