Ghaziabad: Shocking visuals of alleged chain-snatching attempt on the National Highway-9 in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad surfaced online. A woman, named Reenu, claimed that bikers tried to snatch her sister's chain when was riding her scooty on the highway. Reenu further alleged that, in the scuffle, the woman fell off the scooty and sustained injuries. However, the police denied the claimes
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Wave City police station. The video shows the woman falling off her scooty. After the woman fell, a car stopped to help her. At the time of the incident, the woman was wearing a helmet due to which her life was saved.

The victim's sister in an Instagram video stating that Reenu was returning from a function when the incident took place. The chain got stuck in the dupatta of the woman, she alleged. In the video, it could be seen that the woman sustained injuries on her face, legs and hands. She urged authorities to take strict action.

ACP Wave City Upasana Pandey denied that there was an attempt to snatch chain. The ACP added that it was an accident between Reenu's scooty and a bike.
Almost two years back, a similar incident took place on NH-9 in Ghaziabad. In October 2023, a 19-year-old woman died after falling off a speeding auto while resisting a snatching bid by two men on a bike on the highway. The woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The deceased, Kirti Singh, was a resident of UP's Hapur and was a first-year B.tech student.
