The British Navy has reportedly declined India's offer to move the Royal Navy's crown jewel F-35B Lightning II stealth fighter jet inside a hangar, according to reports. The fighter jet has been grounded in the open in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram since last six days.

The UK reportedly refused to move the fighter jet into the hangar due to concerns over cost and the use of advanced technologies. The F-35B, of American origin, is considered one of the most expensive fighter jets in terms of programme cost and is equipped with highly advanced technology.

Reportedly, Indian Air Force had also offered to build a temporary shed at the site to protect the aircraft and ground crew from rain and heat, but this offer too was declined.

The Indian Air Force is supporting the British team in returning the aircraft to full service.

A British F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at the International Airport here on 14th June after running low on fuel, reported PTI.

US President Donald Trump had earlier this year offered to sell the F-35 to India during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
