BJP's Raja Iqbal Singh Elected As New Mayor Of Delhi; Congress Candidate Secures 8 Votes

Following his victory, Mayor-elect Singh expressed gratitude to BJP leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.

BJP's Raja Iqbal Singh has been elected as the new Mayor of Delhi after securing an overwhelming 133 votes out of 142 cast in the mayoral election. Singh will take over from outgoing mayor Mahesh Kumar Khichi of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Singh, who previously belonged to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) before joining the BJP during the farm law protests, defeated Congress candidate Mandeep who received only 8 votes.

BJP councillor Jai Bhagwan Yadav has been elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor of Delhi.

Following his victory, Mayor-elect Singh expressed gratitude to BJP leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.

"I assure you that I will work in collaboration with the ruling party, the opposition, and the Congress. Decisions will be made for the development of Delhi without any discrimination," Singh stated in his acceptance speech.

The new mayor outlined his administration's priorities, saying, "The main goal will be to improve the sanitation system of Delhi, remove the mountains of garbage, solve the problem of water logging and provide all the basic and essential facilities to the people of Delhi. We will all work together with full dedication and hard work."
