Bihar's VIP party enters Uttar Pradesh's political arena ahead of 2022 assembly elections

Lucknow: With assembly elections round the corner, Uttar Pradesh is becoming happy hunting ground for small parties. The latest to foray in the UP’s political arena is Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) from Bihar. VIP is the part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and has one minister in the Bihar cabinet. VIP with its roots in Bihar is mainly a party of fishermen community.

With eyes on UP assembly elections, the president of VIP and a minister in Bihar cabinet Mukesh Sahni will inaugurate his party office in Lucknow on Friday. The state president of VIP, Chaudhury Lautanram Nishad has said that party is all set to contest in the coming assembly polls. According to him there are around 13 per cent voters of fishermen community in UP but there representation in the power is less. He blamed that neither the former Samajwadi government nor BJP has given proper representation to this community. He claimed that in 157 assembly segments of UP there are good number of voters belonging to fishermen community. The party may ask its alliance partner BJP few seats to contest in the coming assembly polls. VIP has its influence in areas of Bihar which are very close to border districts of UP mainly Mahrajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Balia and Sant Kabirnagar.

It may mentioned that Republican Party of India RPI-Athawale) has already intended to contest UP assembly polls and demanded 8-10 seats. The president of RPI (Athawale) and union minister Ramdas Athawale will meet UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath in this regard during his visit to state capital on July 31.
