New Delhi, July 24: In a shocking incident, a video has surfaced on social media in which it can be seen that political comedian Ratan Ranjan alleged an attack by goons driving in an SUV. The incident was recorded by the comedian himself and shared on social media. The video is going viral on social media. It can be seen in the video that a white-coloured Mahindra Scorpio N SUV is trying to escape the spot as Ratan starts recording the video. He also claimed in the video that the car hit him in bid to kidnap him.
Details About The Incident
The stand-up comedian and political satirist alleged that he was targeted in the violent attack and attempted abduction by the occupants of the SUV. He is seen in the video screaming that the car belongs to Congress while they are seen fleeing the spot by reversing and turning the vehicle. Luckily, he is safe and the kidnapping bid was foiled. BJP IT Cell chied Amit Malviya also shared the video on his official social media account and slammed the Congress party, accusing them of the attack.
“In an absolutely shameless act of intolerance, Congress workers tried to kidnap and later run over @RatanRanjan_, who has been exposing Rahul Gandhi and his minions through political satire. This comes after they failed to silence him using fake legal cases in the few states where they are still in power,” Malviya wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Ranjan’s own account, he was walking near his residence when an SUV suddenly swerved toward him in an apparent attempt to run him over. He claimed that the attackers attempted to abduct him but failed. As the car sped away from the scene, Ranjan gave a chase and managed to record a video of the fleeing vehicle. In the video, he is heard accusing Congress workers of orchestrating the attack, saying, “They tried to abduct and run me over. Look at the car! This belongs to Congress.”
Sanitary Pad Incident
The incident occurred days after Ratan Ranjan allegedly shared a morphed image of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi inside a sanitary pad. He was mocking the Congress party's initiative of distributing free sanitary pads to the women in Bihar.
A case was also filed against the comedian in Telangana by the Telangana Youth Congress President Jakkidi Shiva Charan Reddy. He alleged in the complaint that Ranjan shared the doctored image on July 5 through his X account. He also claimed that Ranjan shared the post with a derogatory caption.
Police Action And Political Heat
There are no reports of any police complaint in connection with the matter, however, the incident has fueled the already volatile political climate in the state of Bihar. BJP is demanding an investigation and strict action against the accused. They are also reportedly demanding security for Ranjan.
