Bihar Elections 2025: Tej Pratap Yadav To Contest Polls From Mahua As Independent Candidate (VIDEO)

Tej Pratap said that he will contest the elections as an independent candidate from the Mahua assembly seat– the seat from where he was first elected as MLA. Currently, RJD's Mukesh Kumar Raushan represents Mahua, while Tej Pratap represents Hasanpur.

Patna: Former Bihar minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's estranged elder son Tej Pratap Yadav made a big announcement regarding the upcoming assembly elections on Saturday.

Tej Pratap said that he will contest the elections as an independent candidate from the Mahua assembly seat– the seat from where he was first elected as MLA. Currently, RJD's Mukesh Kumar Raushan represents Mahua, while Tej Pratap represents Hasanpur.

"Team Tej Pratap Yadav is a platform to reach the people... This time, Uncle (Nitish Kumar) will not become the Chief Minister. Whoever's government is formed, if they talk about youth, employment, education, and health, Tej Pratap Yadav will stand with them with full strength. We will contest the election from Mahua; there are many opponents, they have started to feel the itch," Yadav was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

No Plans To Form New Party

Tej Pratap further said that people are constantly joining 'Team Tej Pratap', and he clarified that 'our doors are open for everyone.' However, he also added that there are no plans to form a party of his own at the moment.

Yadav urther said that he will support parties which focus on youth, employment, education and health.

Unfollows Family Members

Tej Pratap Yadav on Friday unfollowed several family members on X, including his sisters, creating digital distance just before Raksha Bandhan. This move is being seen as a sign of deepening family rifts.

Why Was Tej Pratap Yadav Expelled from RJD?

On 24th May, photos and videos of Tej Pratap and Anushka had gone viral on social media after it was posted from his account with claims of a 12-year-old relationship between them. The next day, Lalu Yadav expelled Tej Pratap from both the party and the family. Initially, he claimed his Facebook account was hacked, but he has recently admitted to posting the photo himself. His brother and former DCM Tejashwi Yadav publicly backed their father’s move.

Tej Pratap married Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai in 2018. Tej Pratap filied for divorce within months.
