BJP MLA from Narkatiaganj Rashmi Verma tendered her resignation to the speaker's office on Monday.
In her one-line resignation letter, she claimed that she was demitting the membership of the House due to personal reasons.
Verma, in a letter to Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, requested him to accept her resignation from membership of the House. She cited the personal reason behind her resignation.
Verma's resignation was not accepted till late Sunday evening as the legislature complex was closed by the Speaker due to Covid restrictions.
Rashmi Verma was first elected to the Bihar assembly in 2014 on the JDU symbol and in the 2020 election as a BJP candidate.
She hails from the Shikarpur estate in Champaran.
Her brother was arrested by Uttar Pradesh STF on January 4 from New Delhi on charges of Uttar Pradesh Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) papers leak.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi too had alleged the BJP MLA's hand in the paper leak scam as her brother was found involved.
