New Delhi: Congress MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday shared a cryptic post after he was excluded from the list of speakers by his party during the Operation Sindoor debate in the Lok Sabha. Tewari posted a patriotic song from Manoj Kumar's movie 'Purab Aur Paschim', which was released in 1970.

The Congress MP also shared a screenshot of a news report describing why he and another Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor, were benched by the grand old party during the debate.

"Hai preet jahaan ki reet sada, main geet wahaan ke gaata hoon, Bharat ka rehne waala hoon, Bharat ki baat sunata hoon, Jai Hind," Tewari wrote.

Tewari's post has given an opportunity to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to target the Congress.

For the unversed, Tewari and Tharoor were part of the delegations, which the BJP-led Central government sent to other countries to highlight India's stand against terrorism. Tewari had sent a request to the Congress to speak during the debate, reported news agency ANI, citing sources.

On Monday, Tharoor refused to comment on the ‘Operation Sindoor’ debate, telling reporters that he is observing a “maunvrat” or vow of silence. As he arrived at Parliament and was asked whether he would participate in the discussion, Tharoor dismissed the query by simply repeating, “Maunvrat, maunvrat.”

Operation Sindoor Debate:

Lok Sabha on Tuesday will continue its discussion on Operation Sindoor for the second day. The Standing Committees on Communications and Information Technology will also table their reports on the action taken by the government on the recommendations made by these panels on various subjects.

Defence Minister Rajnath SIngh on Monday initiated the debate in the Lower House. Taking a swipe at the Opposition, Singh stated that focus must not remain on small issues when aiming to achieve a higher feat, since it can divert attention from national security.

"When the aim is to go higher, we should not pay attention to small issues because focusing on issues that remain comparatively small can divert attention from national security," Singh said while addressing the lower house of Parliament on Operation Sindoor.

Meanwhile, Deputy Leader Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogai hit out at the BJP-led government on Monday over the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir and said it has been over 100 days since the horrendous April 22 incident, but the government "hasn't been able to catch those five terrorists" who carried out the terror attack in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.
