Bengaluru Braces For Hot And Humid Days As Temperatures Soars, Says IMD

According to the India Meteorological Department, the city is set to experience a sunny day on Wednesday. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be around 20 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Bengaluru: The residents of Garden City are set to enjoy a sunny day on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, with clear skies expected to persist throughout the day. The weather department has also predicted a rise in temperatures in the coming days. Recently, residents have noticed an unusual weather pattern, with temperatures in Garden City exceeding those in the national capital, Delhi, by nine degrees.

The India Meteorological Department forecasts that Garden City will experience a hotter summer than Delhi in 2025. The temperatures recorded this February are 2.7 degrees Celsius higher than those recorded in February 2024.

The city has witnessed the Sunrise at 6:40 AM it is likely to set at 6:27 PM. Meanwhile, the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected between 20 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The humidity level is expected to range around 56 per cent. Today, the wind is expected to blow steadily from the East at a speed of 13 km/h, and the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to stand at 135, which indicates moderate air quality in the city and its adjoining areas. The weather department said that heatwave is likely to affect coastal and northern regions of Karnataka.

Why are temperatures rising in Bengaluru?

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the lack of northern winds is a key factor contributing to the rising temperatures in the city. These northern winds play a crucial role in regulating temperatures.

Additionally, the ongoing La Niña phenomenon is another reason for the hot and humid weather. This phenomenon, which cools the ocean in the equatorial Pacific, significantly impacts global weather patterns, including those in Silicon City, India.
