Bengaluru: The Silicon Valley of India, is getting ready to say goodbye to 2024 and welcome the New Year, 2025. In preparation for the celebrations, the city police have announced a series of comprehensive safety and traffic measures to ensure a smooth and secure experience for everyone throughout the city.
The New Year's celebrations have come under scrutiny in recent years, particularly after allegations of mass molestation on MG Road. This year, authorities are taking no chances and are committed to preventing any similar incidents that could lead to chaos and disrupt large crowds. Anticipating larger gatherings, they have implemented extensive arrangements in key areas, including Indiranagar, MG Road, Brigade Road, and Koramangala.
To ensure the safety of the citizens, the Bengaluru police have issued guidelines, which are mentioned down below.

Do's:
Use public transport or designated drivers if consuming alcohol.
Report suspicious activity and emergencies to the police. Even if you find a suspicious item or unidentified item, contact the police.
Celebrate the New Year only in designated areas.
Don'ts:
Wearing masks is prohibited because it conceals your identity.
Drinking and driving is prohibited.
Carrying harmful items or weapons is also prohibited.
To facilitate safe transportation, Namma Metro will extend its services on January 1 until 2:40 am. (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will also adjust its services to ensure smooth celebrations. A large gathering is anticipated, and due to this, attendees are encouraged to follow public health guidelines related to COVID-19 or other health concerns.
Security measures and traffic management
Overall, a total of 11,830 police personnel, including senior officers, civil defense staff, volunteers, and police personnel, were deployed across the city to monitor and manage the crowds. The police also aim to prevent unauthorised and drug-related activities, and because of that, special attention will be given to this area as well.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiv Kumar highlighted the importance of maintaining the city's reputation. He said that any mischief done in a public place would not be tolerable and that there should be a zero-tolerance policy towards drunk driving. The celebration will begin at 4 pm on December 31, and will end at 1 pm.
