Dehradun : Heavy rains on Tuesday failed to dampen the spirit of devotees bound for Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib as yatra to the famed Himalayan shrines in Uttarakhand went on uninterrupted with the Chief Minister ordering heavier deployment of SDRF, police and administrative personnel on sensitive points along the route, reports PTI.
Over 800 pilgrims were ferried to Badrinath on Tuesday through trans-shipment despite mud and slush collecting in Lambagad slide zone between the Himalayan temple and Joshimath due to heavy showers in the district since morning, Chamoli DM Ashok Kumar said.
Vehicles were parked on either side of the slide zone to transport pilgrims to the revered shrine and the process went on smoothly despite heavy rain with over 800 devotees paying obeisance at the temple at the end of the day, he said. Yatra to Hemkund Sahib also resumed on Tuesday and went on uninterrupted despite rain with the damaged wooden bridge over Pushpavati river at Bhyundar village along the 14 km trek route to the Sikh shrine fully repaired, the DM said. Meanwhile, an official release here said trek route to Kedarnath is likely to be reopened from Wednesday with improvement in the weather.
