Kolkata: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday late evening visited Kolkata to hold several organizational meetings from late evening.

After reaching Kolkata at 10:05 pm, while coming out from the airport he waved his hands to energize party workers who had gathered outside the airport with dhaak.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president and MoS Sukanta Majumdar, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari along with several other leaders had also gathered at Kolkata airport to receive the Union Home Minister.

Shah is scheduled to hold a meeting with party leaders in a private hotel on Saturday night and will inaugurate a new CFSL building on Sunday at Rajarhat.

Following the inauguration Shah will attend the party's organizational meeting at Netaji Indoor Stadium and after paying homage at the ancestral house of Swami Vivekananda will leave for the national capital.

Before reaching Kolkata, taking to X, Shah said, “Leaving for Kolkata. Tomorrow, will inaugurate the new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, which will contribute immensely to strengthening the criminal justice system in West Bengal and Northeast India. In the afternoon will interact with the Karyakartas at Vijay Sankalp Karyakarta Sammelan in Kolkata. Looking forward to attending the programs.”

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress however, said that the central BJP leaders visit West Bengal just ahead of the elections.

BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar said that the poll preparations had already begun with the visit of the Prime Minister.

“This 2026 election is not just to oust TMC or forming the state government by the saffron camp. This election is to save the rights and lives of Hindus. If BJP doesn’t form a state government in Bengal, then Murshidabad like incidents will take place across the state,” said Majumdar.
