Kolkata: West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the Congress had formed with the Left Front and not Indian Secular Front (ISF) and also claimed that the Congress’ image got tarnished with the inclusion of ISF.
“ISF had fielded a candidate against the Congress in Murshidabad. Congress never allied with the ISF but only with the Left Front. So far the decision on breaking of the alliance is not thought of and we think that the alliance is still there,” claimed Adhir adding that Congress will think of the alliance before the civic polls.
Supporting TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee, Adhir said that they won’t be fielding any candidates in the Bhawanipore constituency as they believe that only Mamata Banerjee can defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
“Not just the minorities but the landslide victory of the TMC has proven that the people of West Bengal wanted Mamata Banerjee to become the CM and also chose her as the main face of the opposition and I also believe that she is the only one who can beat the BJP,” claimed the West Bengal Congress chief.
Meanwhile, senior Left Front leader Surjya Kanta Misra also claimed that the Left Front will not break the alliance.
