Mumbai: Marking its fourth anniversary, Akasa Air announced the launch of its dedicated loyalty program, Akasa Elevate. India's youngest carrier aims to bolster customer retention and directly challenge market heavyweights like Air India and IndiGo, both of which have intensified their focus on rewards ecosystems to lock in frequent flyers.
Since commencing commercial operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has flown nearly 30 million passengers. The carrier has emerged as the fastest-growing airline in Indian aviation history, becoming the first domestic operator to induct over 40 aircraft into its fleet within such a short timeframe.
The Akasa Elevate framework is designed to reward repeat passengers with immediate recognition through a four Tier System and a dual qualification path. Members can advance through four distinct membership tiers, qualifying via either eligible flown sectors or cumulative financial spend. Passengers accumulate 'Elevate Points' not only on flight base fares but also on ancillary products and services. Additional bonus points are awarded for direct bookings made via the airline's official platforms.
The perks extend across the entire flight journey, offering tier-based benefits such as complimentary seat selection, extra baggage allowances, meals, priority airport services and enhanced travel flexibility. Under the programme, higher-tier members receive dedicated member support, personalised recognition and streamlined airport transit experiences. Moreover, the airline has also introduced a limited-period retro claim period to onboard existing flyers who gave flown with the airline since April 1, 2026.

​The rollout of Akasa Elevate comes at a critical juncture in the Indian aviation market, where passenger loyalty has become a primary battlefield. Flag carrier Air India has launched Maharaja Club, offering Star Alliance perks, while market leader IndiGo launched its 'BluChip' program to build a sticky customer base. By introducing a revenue- and flight-based tier structure that heavily rewards ancillary spending, experts believe that Akasa Air is looking to secure its share of high-yield business and corporate travellers.
​Starting with a single aircraft in 2022, Akasa Air today operates a modern fleet of 40 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft out of an order book of 226 aircraft. The carrier's network spans 29 domestic destinations – including major hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai – alongside seven international cities, including Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, Phuket and Hanoi.
As the airline enters its fifth year, management maintained that disciplined fleet expansion, cost efficiency, and customer-centric offerings like Akasa Elevate will underpin its next phase of international and domestic growth.
