Kolkata: Questions are being raised whether Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari will contest from Bhabanipur constituency after he took part in ‘Dol Yatra’ festivities and a procession on Tuesday in Bhabanipur, the constituency of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Talking to the media, Adhikari said that ‘Hindustan is meant for Hindus’.
“This is Hindustan but some people are misinterpreting the meaning of secularism. Hindustan belongs to Hindus,” said Adhikari.
The LoP also urged for ‘larger Hindu unity’ and cautioned people of ‘atheism’ and pseudo- secularism’.
Notably, in order to defeat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from the Bhabanipur constituency in the upcoming Assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had set up a ‘war room’ in that constituency and Adhikari is personally monitoring that.
Notably, in the 2021 Assembly polls Adhikari had defeated Trinamool Congress (TMC) Supremo Mamata Banerjee from the Nandigram constituency.

Incidentally, after the SIR exercise, the final voter list of the SIR shows that at least 47000 names have been deleted from Bhabanipur constituency and 14,154 names are under adjudication.
The signals that Adhikari might contest from Bhabanipur has been amplified by the Leader of Opposition himself as at several meetings he was heard saying, “I defeated her in Nandigram; this time I will defeat her in Bhabanipur as well. I will make her a former Chief Minister.”
