50-year-old Sukhwinder Kaur, who was injured after Pakistan launched a drone attack targeting civilians in Khai Pheme Ki village, Punjab's Ferozepur, on 9 May, succumbed to her injuries three days later.

According to reports, Sukhwinder's car caught fire after being struck by a Pakistani drone on Friday. The woman and two other family members sustained severe burns in the incident.

As per the PTI report, Sukhwinder's husband, Lakhwinder Singh, and his brother, Monu Singh, were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Sukhwinder succumbed to her burn injuries at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana on Monday night, marking the first civilian casualty outside Jammu and Kashmir caused by Pakistani shelling.

Reports indicate that with Sukhwinder's death, a total of 26 civilians have now been killed in Pakistani shelling and drone attacks.

Police stated that Sukhwinder had suffered 100% burns after debris from a Pakistani drone, downed by India’s air defence system, fell on their car, sparking a fire that injured the family of three.

The condition of Lakhwinder Singh, who reportedly sustained 70% burns, remains critical at DMCH.

The situation escalated when Pakistan launched heavy artillery fire targeting India's border regions in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan. Approximately 25 locations across these states faced drone swarm attacks, though most were successfully intercepted by Indian air defence systems.

Tensions between the two nations worsened after Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement along both the International Border and the Line of Control on Thursday. This breach followed India's Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan in retaliation for the 22 April Pahalgam attack, where Pakistan-backed militants killed 26 civilians.
