On Monday, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her debut in Uttar Pradesh’s political arena as Congress general secretary with a grand road show, raising hopes of a turnaround in the party’s fortunes. The roadshow drew big crowds in Lucknow, which also resulted in mobile thefts. Around 50 mobile phones were stolen during the Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s roadshow.
According to India Today, on Monday (February 12) Congress workers caught a man for mobile theft and managed to hand him over to the police. A party worker informed the police that mobile phones and wallets of more than 50 people were stolen during the roadshow. The cops released the man after not a single mobile phone was recovered from him. The Congress workers have lodged a complaint at UP’s Sarojini Nagar police station. Even mobile phones of party leaders, including Assistant City Magistrate of the state and Congress spokesman Jeeshan Haider, were stolen. The cops are currently investigating the case.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was accompanied by Congress president Rahul Gandhi and in charge of the western region, Jyotiraditya Scindia. When the three leaders embarked on a roughly 25-km-long roadshow, from the airport to the party headquarters, to woo voters in the Lok Sabha polls, rose petals and marigold garlands were showered at their cavalcade.
