A speeding dumper truck heading towards Haridwar met with a severe accident near Lachhiwala Toll Plaza on Monday morning. Due to brake failure, the out-of-control dumper hit three vehicles and crashed into a pole at the toll plaza. Two people died tragically on the spot, while two vehicles were partially damaged.
The incident was recorded on CCTV cameras installed at the toll plaza. The video of the incident has emerged on social media.
According to reports, a car (number UK 07 AF 2506) was severely damaged after being hit by the dumper truck (number UK 18 CA 6636), and both occupants of the car died on the spot. Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the scene and after great effort, extracted the bodies from the vehicle and sent them to the morgue.
One of the deceased has been identified as Ratanmani Uniyal, resident of Indraprasth Enclave, Raipur, Dehradun, while an identification card with the name Pankaj Kumar, son of Kishori Lal Pawar, was found with the other deceased.
Police are working to confirm his identity and have informed the families. Police took immediate action, detaining the dumper driver and initiating further investigation. A detailed investigation into the causes of the accident is underway, and legal procedures will be completed after the arrival of the deceased's family members.
