Two people died and several others were injured in a road accident involving a head-on collision between a state transport (ST) bus and an Eco car near Vaghpura village in Jhagadia taluka of Gujarat's Bharuch district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the accident occurred when an ST bus travelling from Rajpipla to Bharuch collided with an Eco car heading in the opposite direction from Surat to Rajpipla. Both vehicles were reportedly speeding, and authorities suspect the poor road condition may have contributed to the drivers losing control. The fatal accident was capture on CCTV camera.
The impact left the Eco car severely mangled. Two occupants, identified as Arpit Sharma and Shaileshbhai Patel, died at the scene. Two other passengers, Irfan Ali and Sharif Khan, sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Avidha government hospital.
Five other passengers suffered minor injuries in the crash. After receiving initial medical attention, these individuals were discharged from hospital.
Local police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident. The incident has raised fresh concerns about road safety in the area, particularly regarding speeding vehicles and road maintenance.
