Jaipur: The state unit of the Congress in Rajasthan has hit out at the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government after reports claimed that the state government spent over ₹100 crore for organizing the 25th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards ceremony in Jaipur last weekend.

Lashing out at the Bhajanlal Sharma government, the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly and Congress leader Tika Ram Jully on Wednesday said that state government spent ₹100 crore for the film awards event, but it has no funds for important temples like 'Khatu Shyam Ji'.

'No A-Listed Actor Attended IIFA'

Tika Ram Jully speaking speaking in the assembly during the budget session claimed that apart from Shah Rukh Khan, no A-listed actor attended the awards event. And when someone took the name of actor Madhuri Dixit, Jully replied, "She is in second grade now. Her time is over. No big film star came. When Amitabh Bachchan did not come, what is to be said."

'Could Not Give 100 Crore To Khatu Shyam ji (temple)

Mr Jully further cornered the government and said the BJP "chants the name of Sanatan" and could not give ₹100 crore for Khatu Shyam ji (temple) and ₹120 crore for Govind Dev ji temple, but cleared ₹100 crore for the IIFA awards at bullet train's speed.

'Passes worth ₹7 Lakh Were Given Out For Free'

He further alleged the state government of wasting tax payers money. "Passes worth ₹7 lakh were given out for free. It was the taxpayers' money. Mr Chief Minister, you people were busy clicking photos. What did Rajasthan gain from IIFA? The stars did not go to any tourist spots.
