Free cancer screening and health camps were organised under the Cancer-Free awareness campaign to extend healthcare services to the remote regions of Arunachal Pradesh. These camps were organised in Singchung on January 28 and Thrizino on January 29.

The State Cancer Society’s cancer screening van was utilised for these camps, with the efforts of nodal officer Dr. Sam Tsering. This initiative was carried out with the support of the member of legislative assembly from Thrizino-Buragaon Tenzin Nyima Glow.

A total of 128 patients were screened while 45 sonography examinations were carried at the Singchung Health Camp. It was inaugurated by ADC Singchung Murnia Kaki, in the presence of key dignitaries, including Dr. Droma medical officer at CHC Singchung, Jumter Glow and healthcare staff.

Thrizino Health Camp screened 237 patients with sonography examinations of 75 people.

It was inaugurated by senior leader Eng. Bonnie Shakrinso, in the presence of ADC Thrizino, Mr. Topik Kaki (APCS), Dr. Kiren Deru, medical officer of Thrizino PHC and medical staff.

The camp was led by MICWS Chairman Khandu Thungon, general secretary of Chaabi Sahayog Foundation Partho Roy and senior medical experts including senior gynecologist Dr. B.K. Patil, senior health administrator and campaign patron Dr. Avinash Gargote, Dr. Divya Srinivas,

Dr. Ravindra Kamble, Dr. Sneha Bhatte, and Jaiganesh Lingathar from Dev Desh Pratishthan.

Campaign patron Dr. Vaibhav Devgirkar, the president of Dev Desh Pratishthan and chief patron P.K. Thungon, the first Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, applauded the entire team’s dedicated efforts in making this campaign a success.

“Many regions in West Kameng district lack even basic healthcare facilities, resulting in delayed diagnosis and treatment. Through the Cancer-Free Awareness Campaign, screening and treatment opportunities are being provided to the residents of these remote areas. Given the overwhelming response from the local community, plans are in place to further expand this initiative in the future,” said a member associated with the initiative.
