Let’s face it, Indians love to eat good food and the multi-faceted Indian cuisine is full of sweets, fried and rich food, which has made this nation the global capital of Diabetes. Certainly not something we can be proud of. Artificial suppression through external insulin has weakened our own defense mechanism against this dread over time, and now, it is not uncommon to see a family history of diabetes with many. There is another problem, undetected and attended to at the right time; it shows up unannounced with a vengeance, demanding rigid lifestyle changes as the consequences could even lead to death.
Some quick facts to tell us the seriousness of this disease:
● In 2019 approximately 463 million adults (20-79 years) were living with diabetes; by 2045 this will rise to 700 million.
● The proportion of people with type 2 diabetes is increasing in most countries
● 79% of adults with diabetes were living in low- and middle-income countries
● 1 in 5 of the people who are above 65 years old have diabetes
● 1 in 2 (232 million) people with diabetes were undiagnosed
● Diabetes caused 4.2 million deaths - that’s far worse than the number of deaths through Covid.
● One in six diabetic people in the world is an Indian, and the situation is not getting any better.
While eating good food is never a bad idea, eating in excess or under exercising does pose a problem especially if one happens to be diabetic. Since the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic, doctors have suggested that Covid-19 can pose a severe threat to people with diabetes. But did it ever come to your mind that coronavirus can invoke new diabetes cases?
Recently, it has been noted that people who have recovered from the coronavirus showed a spike in their blood glucose levels. There has been an upsurge in people with diabetes during the coronavirus pandemic. Around 40% of people who recovered from Covid-19 developed diabetes. The Delta variant of coronavirus damages the beta cells present in the Islet of Langerhans of the pancreas. The beta cells are essential for the synthesis of insulin, which helps to regulate blood glucose levels. By damaging the beta cells, the Delta virus can cause diabetes. Also, the coronavirus tends to bind with the ACE-2 receptors of organs, thus making the body insulin resistant.
Despite being a serious threat to ones’ body, it is not unmanageable or (in some cases) reversible. If a person is on the borderline line of diabetes, a simple act of applying yellow colour on the right hand's little finger nail works like magic. Yellow colour could be of turmeric, a yellow flower petal or even a nail polish.
Similarly, applying yellow colour band all around on ‘K’ joint of index finger of left hand and on the right hand's index finger can cure diabetes. But if the patient is on insulin then applying yellow colour band should also be applied on ‘P’ joint.
If the sugar level is up to 200, men will experience pain on the phalange, next to the palm. Whereas, women will experience pain in the right hand's index finger. It is advisable to stimulate the pressure point with a probe, it could be a blunt pencil or a ball pen without refill. The probe should be 1/3rd of the length of the phalange. Applying one moong seed with white germinating point facing the skin. This remedy should be done once a day.
Low sugar is more dangerous than high sugar. After every three-four hours, the patient feels the symptoms of low sugar. People whose sugar level goes down frequently should consult their doctor and take proper medication. Always keep a chocolate or a sugar lump handy if you are someone who's blood sugar level keeps dropping.
Continue pasting moong dal and take medicines as prescribed by your doctor. Pasting moong dal for 15 to 20 days regularly may reverse your diabetes. Later, avoid sugar after getting rid of the disease.
And for those who suffer from high blood sugar, such people should apply a magnet on the nail of right hand's little finger. The magnet should be kept for one to five hours, depending on the sugar levels. Never apply magnets at night time as one may not realize that sugar level has gone low, and low sugar could cause serious problems. One will get free from medicines in about eighteen months (without insulin dose) to 30 months, if one is on insulin.
