A wedding ceremony turned into a moment of unhappiness when 15 people, including the groom, fell into a drain after the bridge on which they were dancing collapsed. The incident happened at Olive Garden wedding hall in Hoshiyarpur village, situated in Noida’s Sector 52.

The 15 persons who fell, were part of a baarat and also included the groom. They were dancing on a bridge, which connected wedding hall’s lawn to its main gate. The bridge was built over a drain. The people danced for about 10 minutes on the bridge, post which it suddenly collapsed sending them into the drain. Two children were injured in the accident.

The groom, Amit Yadav, is a 35-year-old businessman from Ghaziabad while the 32-year-old bride Sonam, is a resident of Delhi. A fight followed between the hall owners and the bride’s family after the accident. The bride’s family was refunded the amount of Rs. 3 lakh, post which the ceremony restarted again.

“We received information around 9.30pm that a bridge had collapsed in Hoshiyarpur village in Sector 52, and over a dozen people had fallen into a drain. Two children, aged below 8 years, were injured and were rushed to a nearby private hospital for medical assistance. No case was registered; both the parties reached an agreement,” Hindustan Times quoted Mithilesh Upadhyay, station house officer of Sector 24 police station, as saying.

Owner of the Olive Garden hall called the bridge’s collapse an unfortunate accident. “We have been in business for the past 15 years; this is the first time that such an incident took place. We apologised and returned every penny we took from the bride’s side. The wedding ceremony resumed after the accident,” Sharma said.
