TN announces solatium to kin of victims

Chennai: Tamil Nadu government today announced a solatium of Rs three lakh each to families of three contract employees of state-run TANGEDCO who died while on duty.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa condoled the death of contract workers Ranganathan, Krishnan and Arumugam. She said Ranganathan died after suffering an electrical shock while working on a transformer while Krishnan died after coming into contact with an overhead live wire while erecting a post. Arumugam also died after suffering shock while repairing an electrical post, she said in a statement and announced a relief of Rs three lakh each to the bereaved families from the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund. She also announced Rs three lakh each to the families of four persons who died in elephant attacks in Coimbatore, Vellore and Nilgiris districts.
