The Pulwama terror attack, in which 45 CRPF personnel were killed in a suicide bomb attack by Jaish-e-Mohammad, was a moment of shock and grief for the whole nation. A similar situation was witnessed at the home of Adil Ahmad Dar after the attack, who carried out the attack as a suicide bomber. Adil’s family was in shock and grief for what their son’s death as well as the heinous crime he committed.

He wanted to become cleric: Adil’s father

After the news of attack and association of Adil Ahmad Dar with the attack broke out, local residents living in his hometown Gundibagh gathered at his house. Dar’s father, Ghulam Hassan Dar, was shattered by the incident. Group of mourners surrounded him in his house. Scroll.in quoted Dar’s words for his son, who mentioned that he was a responsible boy.

Dar also explained how his son would help his mother in house hold affairs. He had two brothers, and was the second among them. He wanted to become a cleric and had knowledge of eight chapters of Quran. He used to do odd jobs to raise money for himself. He earned about Rs.50, 000- Rs. 60,000 in 2017 by making wooden boxes at a nearby saw mill.

Talking about his last meeting with his son, Dar said he last met Adil on March 19, 2018, when his son was working at a construction site. He came home in the afternoon, and left home on his cycle after lunch. “Days later, a photo of Adil wielding a gun went viral on social media, “We had no idea he would choose this path,” Dar said.

Although Adil’s father explained how his son was responsible in the past, the video which surfaced yesterday clearly states that his ambitions totally turned towards terrorism in the past few years. Yesterday, a 10-minute long video of Adil Ahmad Dar got viral on internet, which was recorded before he led the suicide attack on CRPF soldiers. Adil starts of by saying that ‘by the time this video reaches you, I’ll be in Heaven’.
