Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Pathipati Pulla Rao has directed the officials to take strict action against those selling fake fertilisers.
“The agriculture and other concerned departmental officials should take stringent action against those selling fertilisers and insecticides at higher rates and those selling fake fertilisers in the district,” Rao said during a review meeting with agriculture officials here yesterday.
He also warned the officials of strict action against them, if they fail to act against the errant dealers.
To strengthen the agriculture department, its different wings have been merged post bifurcation of AP with an aim to provide better fertilisers, insecticides and other facilities related to farm sector in the state, he said.
The state government is spending Rs 3.50 crore on ‘Polam Pilustondi’ programme which is aimed at creating awareness among the farmers about increase in crop production, usage of new techniques in cultivation, low investment and high returns for the products, he said.
On the occasion, state Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa asked the agriculture officials to extend cooperation to farmers for good results.
He also directed the horticulture department to make people in villages aware about horticulture plants and its advantages.
He also asked the officials take steps to prevent illegal transport of animals to slaughter houses in the East Godavari district.
