Agartala: A Congress Party-led 12-hour-long strike in Tripura, which began at 6 a.m. on Thursday, has so far evoked a mixed response.

Normal life in the state has been affected by the strike, as barring some auto-rikshaws and two whealers, no public or private vehicle are plying on the roads ofstate capital Agartala.

Schools and markets are also closed.

The state administration had deployed additional police forces to maintain law and order, besides peace.

The 12-hour strike has been called to protest against a police baton charge on Congress Party workers in Agartala on November 17.

The Congress workers were participating in a civil disobedience agitation, and some of them were seriously injured.
