Having tasted Italian cuisine in hi-end specialty restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon truly palatable and very tasty Italian delicacies in a fairly nondescript air conditioned restaurant which goes by the name of Pizza Caprina, the Italian Bresto (for Bistro I guess) in Chembur. Just about six tables yet sales soars due to its delightful offerings, mostly take aways and telephonic orders from as far as Sion and Vikhroli. With two more outlets – one in Nerul (No pork here) and the other in Goregoan, it has spread its popularity all over the city.

Pizza Bread Sandwich tasted really good in a coleslaw kinda way – we called for Fresh Garden comprising a luscious mayo filling of mushroom, onion, capsicum, tomato and olive and for those on the go, a quick bite into Corn Chilli cheese toast is the best option.

A variety of pizzas beckon fast food lovers here and their sell-out one is Chicken Supreme Pizza with hot and spicy chicken and chicken tikka peeping from melted cheese to tickle your palate. Chicken lovers have a lot to choose from, for instance, barbecued chicken, hot Mexicana, butter chicken, chicken Manchurian or plain bbq chicken.

Vegetarians too can have their pick from a range pizzas like Ultimate Veg, Corn Exotica or Wood Cutter interestingly topped with spinach, mushroom, basil and onion. Paneer favourites featuring on the menu include Paneer Peri Peri/Marinara/Chilli/Tikka with vegetables or babycorn or American corn.

 If the restaurant specialises in Italian cuisine, can you miss out on their pastas (spaghetti, farfalle, macroni, penne). Be it veg pasta with bellpepper, olives, mushroom and tomato or non-veg with chicken; Alfredo or Arrabiata sauce, they are excellent and the contributing factors for pizzas are the perfectly done pizza crust, creamy cheese and tongue tingling sauces. It is ideal to try their regular crispy base in pizzas besides Cheese Burst which has cheese filling in the edges of the base making it all the more cheesy.  Dessert is limited to Chocolava that is heavenly.

Pizza Bread Sandwich

INGREDIENTS:

4 Mushroom

1 Capsicum

1 Tomato

1 large Onion

2 tbsp Olive

½ cup Mayonnaise

2 large Pita breads

Salt to taste

Method:

Chop mushroom and make thin slices of other vegetables. In a bowl add vegetables, salt and pour in mayonnaise. Mix them well. Cut each bread into halve. Fill each halve with the veg-mayo mixture. Enjoy!

Corn Chilli Cheese Toast

INGREDIENTS

1 cup Regular cheese

2 Green chillies chopped

4 Breads

2 tsp Red chilli flakes

½ cup American corn

Butter for smearing on toast

Salt to taste

Method:

Grate cheese and add chillies, chilli flakes, corn and mix well. Butter bread slices. Top them with cheese corn mixture. Bake till cheese melts. Serve with tomato ketchup.
