When in Rome, do as the Romans do! And when in India plan according to Indian festivals. Well, Domino’s seems to be completely agreeing to this.
About 500 or call it 50% of Domino’s outlets across 248 cities in India have decided to turn vegetarian during the nine-day Navratri period starting from October 1. This move is apparently intended to attract more customers to revive its sales. The chain has 1,062 outlets across the country.
The US pizza giant has served vegetarian food in the past as well but only in selected outlets. But this time it plans to convert 50% of its outlets vegetarian. And it doesn’t end there, to add to this, the menu will feature no onions, garlic and wheat. The pizza bases will be made using singhara atta i.e. water chestnut flour and rock salt will replace regular salt in sauces. The menu will also feature sabudana (tapioca sago) starters.
Though this might be awesome news for vegetarian pizza-lovers as they won’t have to skip pizzas during the fest, the non-vegetarians will have to either try the innovative new menu or head to other pizza joints. But the ray of hope is that post the nine-day festive, all your favorite non-veg menu will be back with a bang. All that we can say is this is the best period to plan family dinners at Domino’s.
With the move the brand hopes to attract a considerable population of the society and boost the sales, which have been declining for the past seven quarters. It claims to be the first of its kind to introduce such a drastic change in its festive menu.
