This week I am sad, we had to say bye to some of our favourite judges. Justice Mridula Bhatkar, who, by the way, studied journalism and never wanted to be a judge, retired as one fine High Court judge. Waiting for her last day and I am sure we will see her columns and critical words. Another favourite, Justice Abhay Oka has gone to Karnataka. He gave spine to our HC. I would say political parties, politicians, municipal corporations and authorities better keep their records ready and be prepared for some harsh lessons. As for lawyers, our sympathies if they want to appear in his court ill-prepared and some good reporting times for the media there. This judge is better prepared on the cases than the lawyers themselves.
Speaking of the judiciary, it is pathetic the way the entire episode was handled. The lady was maligned by the person called out. Which does not make him clean. Then the unilateral clean chit. Imagine, we knock on their doors for justice. This male camaraderie is akin to blood brotherhood.
