Anurag Kashyap, part of the Phantom Productions, says he is clueless.
Phantom Films, comprising Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena, have produced ‘Lootera’. The film, which stars Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, has been ready for a while, but has not been released yet. The release date has been moved around multiple times ever since Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms has come into the picture. Ekta and Phantom are producing and releasing ‘Lootera’.
‘Lootera’ was to first release in October 2012. Then the film was moved to January 15 this year. But then Ranveer had no plans to rob the box office as yet.
Normally, any actor worth his salt will want to know what is the status of the film he is working in and why the film that he has worked in has been delayed for any reason whatsoever. But then the actor is a tad too nonchalant about the same and his demeanour suggests that he is not really worried about the results.
“I have done my job. I am very happy. I am happy with whatever I did and I was happy to work with Vikramaditya Motwane. I am sure Balaji as producers will do best for the film. I hope it releases soon. I would love people to see it as soon as possible. But we should not worry about what is not in our hands. My work is over, so I should chill,” says the actor.
‘Lootera’ was the third film on Ranveer’s resume, but the actor is happy that he is part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘RamLeela’ and is concentrating on its shooting. Ranveer knows that if the film does well, his career could find another upsurge.
We were told that Ranveer’s busy dates with Bhansali were preventing him from doing the promotion of the film and here a suggested date of March 29 which was blocked for the release of the film has been pushed behind again and now moved to July 5. But then Anurag Kashyap who is part of the Phantom team says that he is pretty clueless about the dates although he tries to camouflage the story a bit.
“You need to ask Phantom. I am a part of Phantom, but I am more into the scripts and the creativity. There is another phantom that looks after the release,” says Kashyap.
We all know that Ekta is the person who bothers more about the release dates of the movies. And it does seem that everything is not hunky dory between the producers. ‘Lootera’ is a big budget movie which is partly inspired by American Author O Henry’s short story ‘The Last Leaf’.
Now, what remains to be seen is if ‘Lootera’ keeps its date with the marquee on July 5.
