The infamous 2012 hotel brawl case, involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, has been all over the news of late due to some recent court orders and proceedings. A few days ago, a local court re-issued a bailable warrant against actress Malaika Arora, in connection with the case.

Malaika and Amrita Arora were key eye-witnesses in the brawl that erupted between Saif and an NRI man at a posh South Mumbai hotel in 2012. The Arora sisters were summoned by the court several times to depose as witnesses during the hearings over the years, and as they failed to mark their attendance, a magistrate court issued a bailable warrant against Malaika on March 15.

On March 29, Amrita deposed as a witness in the court, while Malaika is yet to appear before the bench.

What is the 2012 hotel brawl case?

For those unversed, back in 2012, on February 21, Saif was enjoying dinner with Malaika, Amrita and other friends at the upscale Taj Hotel in Mumbai, and that is when they got into a heated argument with an NRI.

The NRI, who was a South African national, was identified as Iqbal Mir Sharma. The argument was followed by a scuffle between Saif and Sharma.

Later, Sharma filed a complaint with the Colaba police, in which he claimed that Saif, Amrita's husband Shakil Ladak, and another friend named Bilal Amrohi, punched him in the face, resulting in a fractured nose.

Latest update in the 2012 brawl case

Malaika has not yet reacted to the recent court order against her. Meanwhile, Amrita, in her statement recorded before the magistrate court on March 29, revealed some shocking details from the night the incident took place.

Amrita recounted that it was Sharma who had first barged into their private enclosure and had asked them to "shut up". Saif had immediately apologised, the actress said, but later, raised voices were heard when the Race actor went to the washroom.

Later, Sharma entered their enclosure once again and hit Saif, and that is when the men got into a full-blown fight, Amrita said.
